Welcome to our New Group Scout Leader for Bromham Scouts

Dear Parents/Carers,

My name is Simon Berrington and I have just been appointed as the new Group Scout leader for Bromham Scouts. My role is to lead the Bromham Group, made up of the different sections, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers. I am lucky to have a great team of Leaders and Assistant Leaders who give up their time and energy. We aim to provide a balanced programme of activities through all the sections.

We all volunteer because we like Scouting, the activities we get a chance to take part in and think Scouting makes a positive difference to the lives of young people. They get the opportunity to try new things, explore their talents, develop their values and beliefs and make the most out of life.

WEBSITE
Part of the Groups success is the wonderful parent support we have and I am pleased to be able to announce the launch of a Group website, built and designed by Camilla and Tim King. The site aims to promote Bromham Scouts and support parents by providing programme details, camp kits lists and other information. It is still under construction, we hope you like this new source of information.  www.bromhamscouts.org

QUESTIONNAIRE
As you will no doubt expect, it is important that Scouting reflects the communities in which it operates and provides effective activities and opportunities for all sectors of society. Whilst Scouting has made considerable strides in achieving this, in order to demonstrate our success we need to improve the collection of accurate data. With this in mind, please find attached a new form intended to help us collect anonymous data around ethnicity and disability. The categories on this form match those used by the UK National Census and this in turn will mean that we can get a much more accurate picture of how closely Scouting truly reflects the communities locally.
We would very much appreciate it if you would fully complete the forms returning them to your Section Leader by no later than 7th January 2011. The data will be transferred to form a Section / Group summary and the original forms will be securely destroyed.

CAN YOU HELP?
We are always keen for more help on the weekly parent rotas, at camps or on a more regular basis. We have a Group Executive that meets about four times a year and are looking for a Parent representative and Secretary. If you think you can help please get in touch.

If you have any questions/feedback concerning the Bromham Scout Group please free to contact me either at simonberrington@btinternet.com or on 01234 826866.

Kind Regards
Simon Berrington
